William Everette (“Noody”) Belvin

William Everette (“Noody”) Belvin was born July 11, 1914 to Edward H. and Susie E. Belvin of Severn. “Noody” attended Achilles High School and then began his working life on the York River as a waterman. In 1963, he started his own business, W.E. Belvin Real Estate. His dedication and commitment was first to his wife, Mablind, and second to his church and county, which he loved serving. He was a member of Union Baptist Church, Achilles.

“Noody’s” many community accomplishments included being a member of the Gloucester County Board of Supervisors for more than 30 years, former Director of Region 1 for the Virginia Association of Counties, a charter member of Abingdon Ruritan Club, past chairman of the Gloucester Democratic Committee, board member of the Guinea Heritage Association, and member of the Planning Committee for the 350th anniversary of Gloucester.

In his distinguished public service career, which spanned 30 years, “Noody” was recognized for promoting the interests of the children of his county through advancement of public education, for initiating economic development strategies, and for encouraging regional cooperation as shown by his charter membership in the Middle Peninsula Planning District Commission.
