2005 Grand Marshal
Marion C. Randall

Mrs. Randall was born in Bena, Virginia in 1941, in the home of her grandparents, Thomas and Lydia Corbin. Mrs. Randall was married in that same home in 1959 to Calvin Randall. When they home burned, they built a new house on the same site in 1986. “I don’t have any plans to leave in the near future,” said Mrs. Randall.

For 30 years Mrs. Randall taught school in Gloucester County, the last 15 being at Achilles Elementary School, where she retired in 2001. When asked about her time at Achilles, Mrs. Randall stated, “The Guinea area has been part of my life for many, many years and being retired you miss the interaction and rapport with the students and parents. I just have so many wonderful memories of the school and this area. I remember buying drinks and candy at Buck Rowe’s and buying shoes at George Ashe’s Store. I guess what I’m trying to say is ‘Guinea is Great.’”

Mrs. Randall’s civic involvement includes being a member of First Morning Star Baptist Church, the Samaritan Group of Gloucester, the Extension Leadership Council, IOTA Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. and the Golden Rule Chapter #66 OES.

Mrs. Randall’s family includes her husband Calvin and her children, Calvin, Jr., of Altus, OK, Sharon Gayle and Tonia Foster of Gloucester, Tonya Mitchell of Richmond, and nine grandchildren.
